Mr Chung of Papua New Guinea resigned on Friday after an audit by world football‘s governing body, FIFA, identified potential fraud in plans for new OFC headquarters.

The audit found irregularities in a multimillion-dollar project to build OFC headquarters in Auckland.

Mr Chung, who until his resignation was FIFA senior vice president, resigned two days before a meeting of the OFC executive when it was understood he would face a vote of no-confidence.

Sunday‘s meeting resulted in a decision that the OFC would be “led collegially” by the executive itself until June when a new president is elected.

The exceutive said that in light of the audit‘s findings it had appointed an external lawyer to lead an internal investigation into potential wrongdoings and to take legal action, if required.
