Man who attacked woman and daughter had visited address before

Police in Hamilton believe a man who sexually assaulted a woman and physically assaulted her young daughter in her home on Saturday had a particular interest in the address.

Police said a man entered the house in St Andrews on Saturday morning, between seven and 7.45.

Detective Senior Sergeant Dean Anderson said there was an indication the man may have visited the property several weeks before the assaults.

Police wanted to hear from anyone with information about the man or who witnessed suspicious activity in the area on Saturday morning.

The man is described as Māori, aged in his mid-20s, of stocky build, with short hair and wearing a red t-shirt, long black pants and black shoes.
