250 dogs spayed and neutered on Saipan

A mayor in Northern Marianas has led a campaign to spay and neuter about 250 dogs in an effort to control the dog population on Saipan.

Cats were also spayed or neutered during the campaign which also included animals in the mayor‘s office animal shelter

The Saipan Mayor‘s Office‘s campaign was conducted with the help of veterinarians from the non-profit Spay Neuter Network out of Dallas.

In 2014, Saipan‘s stray dog population was estimated at around 21,000 dogs.
